About Morning Coffee Counseling

About the Name

The name Morning Coffee Counseling was inspired by my wife. My wife suffers from debilitating migraines. One way she fights having migraines every day is by drinking coffee. The caffeine alongside medication helps stop migraines from happening in the first place. It is imperative that she gets her morning coffee every day as soon as possible. Her mental health starts as soon as she wakes up every morning. My wife is not the only person who takes their morning coffee very seriously. Millions of people will have a bad day if not for their morning coffee. Your morning coffee is the start and often the end of your daily mental health routine.

I want to encourage every individual to take their mental health as seriously as their morning coffee. Watching my wife wake up early every morning to make her morning coffee taught me something very important. She, like many other people, stop thinking about their mental health after they finish their coffee. I often relate mental health to physical health. It is a lifestyle in which you cannot have good physical health unless you think about it more than once a day. The food you eat, the amount of sleep you get, and the number of times you exercise all impact your physical health. Mental health is no different. So again, I want to encourage you to take your mental health as seriously as your morning coffee.

A Just Cause

As a mental health professional, I decided to target corporate leaders. Why you might ask. The corporate environment is not conducive to good mental health. Often we see managers, leaders, and executives in the workplace struggle with their mental health. Their maladaptive coping habits cause more problems than they fix and the attitudes surrounding mental health often permeate through the company. This usually results in poor retention rates among employees, low motivation, a breakdown in communication, which all negatively impact a company’s ability to thrive and grow.

By addressing the mental health concerns of the leaders, the company will fill the ranks with professionals who no longer struggle with anxiety, stress, depression, and uncontrollable anger. The lack of unwanted thoughts and emotions increases a leader’s ability to focus regardless of the challenge, stay calm even in the most trying situations, communicate effectively, and listen more efficiently. This has a direct impact on retention rates, employee motivation, communication, and increases productivity in the workplace. The goal is to create a mentally healthy corporate America.
